Lighting, Sound, and Scenic Design
The minimalist set, designed to look like a rehearsal space, relied on 129 lighting & sound cues to recreate the 1930s Hitchcock spy thriller mood.
*The following are selected works from serving as the Technical Director for The Montgomery Academy, a college-prep school nationally renowned for its art programs and a frequent collaborator with the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. All shows were directed by Scott Bowman (MFA, American Conservatory Theater, San Fransisco). Alumni of the program have gone on to have recurring roles in such hits as The White Lotus on HBO.

Trompe-l'œil and backdrop

This faux gilded 8x10' frame had to be lighter than 10 lbs but also sturdy enough to not bend or break. To achieve the look, I took four 8x4' foam boards, connected and reinforced them with 1/4" plywood, and used paint to give the illusion of a carved gilded frame.

The minimalist set of this children's theater show was designed to look like a school book report. The sole set feature was a 9'x12' backdrop of the Nordic "tree of life," with lighting and sound being the main methods for establishing the world of the show.
